Saw Mugle Aazam yesterday. Looks nothing goes untapped from the hands of digital techies, especially if it can bring along a couple of buks to them. So they did have put colours in Saleem and Anarkali though their life must have had a shade which can not be signified by any of the seven colours. Anyways this isn’t a movie review so lets not get into the grandness of the movie, the aura of Prithvi raj, the overacting of of Jodahbai, and most importantly the striking beauty of Madhubala.
Watching the movie gives you a complete different perception of what love is, or better still, what love was. I mean the expression of eyes, the way they look, move around and look again...oye!!. May be that’s what we call adaa. But its not just the ‘adaa’ which is being referred here. I guess movies are one of the best reflections of any time and era. All these old movies give a feeling that there was something very ‘unconditional’ about the relationships back then. Things were just not complicated and feelings were simple and ‘strong’. They said what they felt and said only what they meant. It’s not that feelings don’t exist anymore or relationships are lost but yes they do come with strings attached. I mean today its more about our priorities, our bank balances and the like, which makes the choice. More about getting physical and the rest of it. I mean watching those movies it seems those people never ever kissed, yet the intensity seems so strong!! Now don’t get me wrong, I am no seedha sadha banda or for that matter no desperate and ya not even a heart broken kinda story here. Its just that that time appeals to me. Ever heard the song, aajkal paav zami par nahi padte or dheere dheere machal ae dile bekarar, dosen’t it feel special?? Feels like a time when love was just love..
Passing thought:- We rush in our lives trying be what we want, can we halt, look back and ask..was it worth it?
Just loved this line of yours.."..and ya not even a heart broken kinda story here."..

ReplyDeleteAnyway to answer your question - I have got quite a few mails on MBA app process etc. I have tried to reply to each one. I am considering blogging the whole 'MBA process and what it takes' from an intl student perspective very soon.
I think you mean the old movies were like dat, strong and emotional without anything physical, I'm not very sure abt the generation tho.

@ Ash(Anonymous)
ReplyDeleteWelcome. The pleasure is all mine. BTW, ur comment is up there, you posted as anonymous. Have a look again.
abhay please go back and watch mughale azam again..there is a prolonged kissing scene beside the pool in it.
ReplyDeleteok ..like in old movies they have a feather to 'cover it up' but then it gets the message across...
you cant have love without kissing...c'mon!!
Those who think love is lost in current generation ought to look within...that unconditional love exists...do u have the eyes to see the unseen? can u listen to the voice of silence? can u feel what is not expressed? can u sense without touching? can u belong without acceptance? can u remain without being present? unconditional love is not about finding one for yourself, but giving it to someone...if u can't give it, why say that it doesn't exist...it existed in the past and it exists even today, and will exist as long as life exists and a human heart beats in this universe...u only need to believe.
ReplyDeleteyes u r rgt!In those times,Love was just love & now Love is the most misunderstood thg in this world. Now Love means just........ infatuation i guess, as there is nothg called TRUE LOVE in this world which includes the 5 most wonderful thgs.....TRUST,CARE,UNDERSTANDING, TIME4EACHOTHER AND AN UNDIEING.... UNCONDITIONAL FRIENDSHIP b/w them.
