when love was just 'Love'...
Saw Mugle Aazam yesterday. Looks nothing goes untapped from the hands of digital techies, especially if it can bring along a couple of buks to them. So they did have put colours in Saleem and Anarkali though their life must have had a shade which can not be signified by any of the seven colours. Anyways this isn’t a movie review so lets not get into the grandness of the movie, the aura of Prithvi raj, the overacting of of Jodahbai, and most importantly the striking beauty of Madhubala.
Watching the movie gives you a complete different perception of what love is, or better still, what love was. I mean the expression of eyes, the way they look, move around and look again...oye!!. May be that’s what we call adaa. But its not just the ‘adaa’ which is being referred here. I guess movies are one of the best reflections of any time and era. All these old movies give a feeling that there was something very ‘unconditional’ about the relationships back then. Things were just not complicated and feelings were simple and ‘strong’. They said what they felt and said only what they meant. It’s not that feelings don’t exist anymore or relationships are lost but yes they do come with strings attached. I mean today its more about our priorities, our bank balances and the like, which makes the choice. More about getting physical and the rest of it. I mean watching those movies it seems those people never ever kissed, yet the intensity seems so strong!! Now don’t get me wrong, I am no seedha sadha banda or for that matter no desperate and ya not even a heart broken kinda story here. Its just that that time appeals to me. Ever heard the song, aajkal paav zami par nahi padte or dheere dheere machal ae dile bekarar, dosen’t it feel special?? Feels like a time when love was just love..
Passing thought:- We rush in our lives trying be what we want, can we halt, look back and ask..was it worth it?
